Character Loop
Create a character (or you can do this to a character you have previously created) and write the following information on them:

--Appearance
--What you (the narrator) thinks of them.
--The large distinctive things they do
--The small distinctive things they do
--Their Clothes
--Their Normal setting
--An object you would often see them with
--Some dialogue that they would say.

After you write these things up separately combine them all into one piece. The goal is to have a very descriptive piece that holds the essence of the character when you're done.

Local Description
Take some time sitting down in a location and write a short piece about it. The goal is to include the essence of the place. Remember to include colors, how you feel, sounds and sights. Should be about a page.

Character Description
Similar to the character loop but instead concentrate heavily on the physical description of a character. Try writing a page on just the physical appearance of a character.

Instant Story
Take a quote and build a story around the concept that the quote embodies. Be sure to include the quote within the text. The story can be of any type.
This was originally on my personal website, then during my time as a member of one of dA's writing clubs I submitted this to the general public. That writing club now appears to be inactive. In order to allow this useful doc full distribution and use among the community I am reposting here.
